The Story Of Shun

Shun's birth mother pass away early on. His father remarried and his step-mother give birth to a son and a daughter.

The step mother was very cruel and brutal to him. With a vicious tongue, she wagged rumours to his father to let his father have serious misunderstanding about him. Hence, it came to a fact that his father, his step-mother and his step-brother wishes to harm him. And not only that, they wish to kill him.

However, it is fortunate that his sister is a good person. His sister would always listen to the plans of the family and then tell Shun. How are they going to plot and plan to harm you.

Shun knowing it, would prepare before hand.

Once, there is a dry well outside their house. They wish to push him into the dry well and bury him alive.

His sister told him that. So, he prepared beforehand, and dig a tunnel to some other place.

His parents trick him to go. He went. They push him into the dry well. He fell. They throw rocks into the well, he came out of the tunnel that was prepared beforehand.

With wisdom, he avoided confrontation with his family. A lot of times they have thought of means to harm him and he will think of way to avoid them. Avoiding confrontation with his family.

Being push into the well, he say, ah, i slip and fall. Lucky for me, there is a tunnel there. Hence hence i walk out.

He did not say that it was prepared beforehand.

This is a remarkable feat. As in confucians, Ji Gao Ming Er Dao Zhong.

In Buddhism, this is true wisdom. Without wisdom, such methods are impossible.

This is the way of non-confrontation. Whether face to face or side.

Shun was remarkable. He spent 3 years to influence his parents. His parents knew that this Shun was a good man. A filial son. And influenced his whole family. He changed evil person to good person. And in influencing his family, influence his neighbours.

At that time, Yao was king. He heard of the incidents and hence went to investigate and verified it. He pass the throne to Shun.
